The official section finishes on Thursday 12, with the screening of the third session, the twelve competing short films’s showing. It will be at 7:30 pm at the Monopol Screen 4. The last group of short films includes four titles which, just like the other selected eight ones, are part of a kind of cinema defined by its formal risk and its approach to diverse contents, sometimes unexpected. “Peripherial cinema”, says the coordinator of the section, José Cabrera, “which combines talent and reflection on the film process”.
Following Cabrera’s definitions, this last session includes: “defining scars” in Nnic Nowego Pod Słoncem (Nothing New Under the Sun, Damian Kocur, Poland, 2017, 25 min.), “return to the origins” in Mi Amado, las Montañas (Alberto Martín Menacho, Switzerland, Spain, 2017, 24 min.), “a reformulation of spy films”, The Hollow Coin (Frank Heath, USA, 2017, 12 min.), and “a trash political sci-fi” in Babylon (Keith Deligero, The Philippines, 2017, 20 min.).
This category’s jury, make up of directors Belén Funes and Adrián Orr and Punto de Vista’s artistic director, Garbiñe Ortega, will announced the awards next Saturday, April 14.
