Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Mondai, April 14, 2025.- The Film Conferences will hold their 5th edition in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. They will take place on Saturday, April 26, at noon at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium’s Chamber Room as part of the 24th Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival.

Even though attendance is free of charge, those interested in going must request an invitation, available from next week on, through the usual channels of the Fundación Auditorio y Teatro [Auditorium and Theater Foundation].

The conference, a must-see event for film buff audiences and especially aimed at young audiovisual students, is produced by 18 Chulos. In this occasion, it seeks to reflect on cinema as an artistic expression and, specifically, on how the art and trade of acting functions. Journalist Carlos del Amor will moderate this round table comprising four great actors: Nathalie Poza, Carolina Yuste, Bárbara Lennie and Javier Gutiérrez. “The four of them,” the promoters of the event point out, “have 7 Goya Awards and 13 nominations.”

According to the organization, they are “four actors who combine experience and youth that will discuss their beginnings, the difficult decisions they have been through and even the ways they approach castings.” Likewise, they will talk about acting methods and some of the most significant characters in their careers.

Through its Culture Department and the local management of Salán Producciones, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council promotes this meeting that brings some of Spanish cinema’s talent closer to its public.

Careers recognized by prestigious awards

18 Chulos shall welcome in this 5th edition an actor and three actresses who belong to different generations and who have their excellency in common. Whether in cinema, television or theater, the four of them have won dozens of awards. According to the organizers of the event, “Nathalie Poza, Carolina Yuste, Bárbara Lennie and Javier Gutiérrez are great in both film and tv fiction, coming across really well in national and international productions.” Thus, they stress that “Goya Awards, Silver Shells from the San Sebastián International Film Festival, Platinum Awards, Max Awards for the Performing Arts, Forqué and Feroz Awards decorate these four actors’ shelves, and the list goes on and on.”

Javier Gutiérrez

Winner of a Silver Shell for his performance in Marshland and two Goyas (Marshland and The Motive), among other numerous awards, Javier is an absolute reference in Spanish cinema, television and theater. In addition to quite a long list of awards and nominations (he has been nominated six times to the Goyas, for instance), he has also received recognition for his work in short films. Not only that, but he is one of the most consolidated actors in Spanish cinema who is completely committed to discovering and helping new talents.

Nathalie Poza

From the stage to the big screen, the impeccable career of this versatile actress includes, among others, two Goya Awards (Can’t Say Goodbye and Rosa’s Wedding) and four nominations. In the theater her career is tied to the group Animalario, whereas in cinema she has played several memorable characters in films such as The Other Side of the Bed, by Emilio Martínez-Lázaro, or The Weakness of the Bolshevik, by Manuel Martín Cuenca. She has also stood out in tv series like Hispania or the more recent La unidad, produced by Movistar + and in which she plays the chief of police of an anti-terrorist special unit of the General Commissariat of Information investigating a jihadist cell.

Carolina Yuste

This actress from Extremadura is a two-time Goya Award winner, both under the direction of Arantxa Echevarria in Carmen & Lola and Undercover. Without a doubt, Yuste’s outstanding breakthrough in Spanish cinema has given her a great present and a promising future.

In her next project, the soon-to-be-released tv series La canción, created by Pepe Coira and Fran Araújo, she plays Massiel, the “tanqueta of Leganés.” This will not be the first time she plays a singer, as she already starred in Secun de la Rosa’s The Cover as Amy Winehouse. She actually played a cover singer, but her acting was, once more, perfect.

Bárbara Lennie

A consolidated and versatile actress, she has won a great number of awards, including a Goya, a Forqué, two Feroz and a Gaudí. Additionally, she has been nominated to the European Cinema Awards. Her career includes over 30 films, tv series and numerous stage plays.

Most recently she has proven with her role in Family Affairs that she is also capable of brilliantly acting in a comedy.

The voice of the Goya Awards

Carlos del Amor is one of the country’s most renowned cultural journalists. Deputy Director of the Culture Department of TVE’s News Services, he is responsible for iconic pieces of the public broadcaster, in which he has covered some of the most important festivals and awards in the world, such as Cannes or the Oscars. Del Amor is also responsible for the interview show La Matemática del Espejo, as well as the voice that has been accompanying viewers for more than 10 years during the Goya Awards broadcasts. Backed by a 20-year-plus career in cultural and film journalism, this Ondas Award winner stands as the perfect host for the previous four actors to talk freely about their trade.
