Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Sunday, April 27, 2025.- The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival co-organizes the 5th Audiovisual Trainers Meeting with the Canary Islands Audiovisual Cluster (CLAC), in collaboration with Canary Islands Films and with the support of ESCAC. This initiative, programmed as part of the 24th edition of the film event, was conceived as a space for sharing experiences and activities within the framework of audiovisual training and for connecting students and companies with the labor market. It will take place on Tuesday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium’s Atlantic Hall.

Public and private training centers, producing companies, students and stakeholders involved in audiovisual training in the Canary Islands will participate in this strategic meeting for the development of the industry in the Archipelago and the city. The capital is the stage chosen for the official presentation of the initiative OFF ESCAC in the Canary Islands, led by the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya.

A program designed to meet the job market’s needs in the Canary Islands

Fast Forward / OFF ESCAC is an innovative training program created in 2023 to offer non-regulated short-term courses covering all stages of the film and audiovisual process from a practical perspective. The initiative, based on a micro-credentials concept, aims to create and promote a qualified, trained workforce that can adapt to an increasingly changing job market in the audiovisual sector.

This project by the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya, which has already spread throughout Spain, has now come to the Canary Islands within a context of growth in the sector. Its launch aims to respond to the high demand for skilled professionals. The program is financed by the Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and the Next Generation Funds of the European Union.

The ESCAC, with its more than thirty years of experience, is one of the most prestigious film and audiovisual university schools in Europe and has also been included in the Top 15 established by The Hollywood Reporter. Its educational offer includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Filmmaking, a Master’s Degree in Film and Screen Studies, a wide program of masters and postgraduates, as well as a summer school aimed at pre-university students.

On the other hand, the formation provided by OFF ESCAC comprises fields such as directing, screenwriting, acting, art designing, editing, production and photography. It also offers cross and interdepartmental training, including music, sound and post-production.

This 5th Audiovisual Trainers Meetings, promoted at the Festival’s behest, will discuss, too, the application of FP Dual from a practical perspective for audiovisual companies. And, as a novelty, work tables will be held to review current training lines, propose new approaches, detect opportunities and jointly search for new collaboration formulas.
