TALES OF A REVOLUTION
The Monopol Music Festival will have the privilege of having Nacho Vegas in the screening of Cantares de una revolución (Songs of a Revolution) most significant scenes of the Asturian workers’ and peasants’ insurrection in October 1934. With popular music as a map and President of the Third Revolutionary Committee Belarmino Tomás’ words as a compass, filmmaker Ramón Lluis Bande (Gijón, 1972) visits the places of Asturias where uprisings ocurred just before the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, taking headquarters on their way to Oviedo and signing with their action the only proletarian revolution that Spain lived and cost the lives of more than 2,000 people. A workers’ uprising joined by more than 30,000 people around the acronym UHP (Unió Hermanos Proletarios), most of them miners armed with dynamite and stolen weapons in the assault on the Trubia factory. Nacho Vegas will also address his literary side in this appointment and will submit to the questions of the audience.
