JURY

Filmmaker Gabe Klinger, actress and director Joana Press, writer and director Cristián Jiménez, programmer Rebeca de Pas and producer and historian Elena Gozalo make up the jury in charge of valuing the thirteen feature films competing in the 17th Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival’s official section. In addition to this, from next Friday March 31 (the festival’s opening), three specialists will judge the short films participating in the official section: programmer, writer, film critic and expert in Africa films Marion Berger; Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival’s director and programmer, Miguel Dias; and Jorge Tur, professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona’s master’s degree of Theory and Practice of Creative Documentary Making, and documentary maker.

The Canarias Cinema section also has a jury of three experts in charge of valuing the submitted works in the feature and short film categories: Javier H. Estrada, film critic in Caimán. Cuadernos de cine, teacher and film programmer; journalist and Culture-specialized publicist Marina Landa; and Joan Sala, editor in Filmin, a key portal for independent cinema in Spain, and Atlántida Film Fest’s programmer (whose contents are entirely offered online).
