Samir began working as a photographer in 1992. He completed his photography studies at the Academy of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul in 2003. In addition to his work as a photographer, he is also a cinematographer, tutor and, for almost 20 years, curator of the short film program at the Documentary and Short Film Festival DokuFest in Prizren, Kosovo. He was the cinematographer of several short and feature-length films, including his. His directorial debut, the documentary short film IN BETWEEN, had its world premiere at the 2019 edition of Berlinale. His second short film, DISPLACED (PA VEND), premiered in the 2021 Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was awarded the EFA nomination for the European Film Awards. DISPLACED won, among others, the IMDb Pro Short Cuts Award as Best Short Film at the Toronto International Film Festival and Best Nonfiction at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2019 he received the Annual Cinematography Award from the Ministry of Culture of Kosovo. He is also a member of the European Film Academy.
