Synopsis
Rita, a poor girl from a fisherman family, leaves her village in Yucatan to pay off her father's debts. Her sacrifice gets her an abundant but unhappy lifestyle by the side of a married politician who turns her into a famous dancer. Starring the superstar of rumbera films, Ninón Sevilla and with a cinematography signed by Gabriel Figueroa, a notable figure of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema (cinematographer of THE YOUNG AND THE DAMNED and THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL), the work successfully blends melodrama with the analysis of social disparities.
