René Wolf (born in 1963) studied Political Science and Communication. In 1988 he started working at the Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. Later on, he became Head of Acquisitions and Senior Programmer of the museum, which changed its name to EYE.
EYE is the film and moving image museum in the Netherlands. It distinguishes itself by its world-renowned film collection, expertise in restoration, educational programs, and exhibitions, among others. Since 2012, EYE is located in a new building that houses four modern cinemas. Apart from the screening rooms, EYE hosts temporary exhibitions, a Panorama with a permanent exhibition, and a studio for educational activities. As a programmer, Wolf is responsible for the first-run programming of both new films and restored classics and for the annual series Previously Unreleased, for which he selects films that deserve to be seen on the big screen, but were overlooked for regular distribution in the territory. Among films that have been selected for Previously Unreleased were CON EL VIENTO, LA VIRGEN DE AGOSTO, and DESTELLO BRAVÍO.
